The College of Information Engineering is one of the oldest colleges of the university, which can be dated back to 1958 when Inner Mongolia Polytechnic Institute was founded and the first program of wireless communication program was launched, The Department of Electrical Engineering of Inner Mongolia Polytechnic Institute was established in 1984. The College of Information Engineering was founded as the result of subject and institution restructuring in 1999.
Currently the College offers 6 undergraduate programs, i.e., Computer Science and Technology, Electronic Information Engineering, Communications Engineering, Software Engineering, Network Engineering and Internet-of-Things Engineering. Among them Electronic Information Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, and Communication Engineering are brand programs of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The College ia authorized to confer the first level discipline master degree in Information and Communication Engineering, second level discipline master degree in Computer Application Technology and Transportation Information Engineering and Control. It also is capable of conferring the master of engineering degrees in the three engineering fields: Computer Technology, Software Engineering and Electronic and Communication Engineering. More than 1700 undergraduates and 200 postgraduate students are studying at our college nowadays.
There are 5 teaching department in the college, i.e., Department of Computer Science, Department of Electronic Information Engineering, Department of Software Engineering, University Computing Center, and Experiment Center. We have 111 faculties and staff, including 10 professors and 32 associate professors, of which 16 teachers have doctor degrees and 33 are supervisors of master students. Among these teachers, 2 of them have entered the “Grassland Elites” program and 6 teachers have entered first-level or second-level of the “321 Talents of the New Century” program.
The College also has 2 autonomous region level key laboratories and 1 engineering technology research center. The research funds has exceeded 20 million RMB during the past 5 years, including over 50 scientific research projects from provincial or national level funds as well as nearly 50 engineering research projects. More than 200 technical papers have been published of which nearly 100 papers either appeared in domestic/international core journals or were indexed by SCI/EI.
Cooperation between School and enterprise plays an important role. We have multiple “3+1” undergraduate programs working with industry, e.g., the Software Engineering Program with Ambow Education and QST Educational Technology, the Network Engineering Program with Unicloud Technology, etc. In particular, the Computer Science and Technology Program with China National Software & Service received the “Outstanding Engineer Training Projects” from Ministry of Education.
