School of Marxism


1.General Introduction

Founded in November 2009, the School of Marxism undertakes the teaching task for over 22000 undergraduates and 4400 postgraduates (both MA and doctoral students) including education of ideology and politics as well as culture and quality. The school has a total number of 59 staffs (56 full-time) including 5 professors, 23 associate professors, 27 lecturers and 10 master supervisors.

One of the full-time teachers is titled as “National Outstanding Teacher”, “National Educational Advanced Staff”, “National Outstanding College Teachers of Ideology and Politics”, “Famous Teacher” and “Science & Technology Innovation Model of Inner Mongolia”; another teacher is awarded as an “Inner Mongolia Science and Technology Pacesetter”; still anther teacher is titled as an “Excellent Personnel on the Grassland”.

The school consists of six departments: Teaching and Research Department of Marxism Principle , Teaching and Research Department of Chinese Localization of Marxism, Teaching and Research Department of Chinese Modern History and National Theory, Teaching and Research Department of Morality Education, Teaching and Research Department of Situation and Policy, and Teaching and Research Department of Cultural and Quality Education. Besides, the school has also administrative and teaching-assistant departments including a school office, teaching affairs administrative center and library. The Cultural and Quality Education Base of the university is also located in the school.

The school attaches importance to the academic exchange and collaboration with the outside, having established extensive academic links with some famous universities and research institutions, such as Wuhan University, Renmin University of China, China University of Petroleum (East China), etc.


The school is qualified for Marxism Theory, a secondary-discipline master degree program, with two research orientations: Marxism Basic Principles and Education of Ideology and Politics. The discipline adheres to the Marxism, Mao Zedong’s Thoughts and the Theory of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics as its guidelines, follow closely the principles of the national characteristics and regional development, and emphasize the essential development of the economic and social development of minority regions, thus forming its special training and research orientations. They range from Marxism basic principles and modern economic and social development, theories and studies of Marxism national development, studies of modernization of minority regional government, theory and practice of college ideological and political education, studies of minority region ideological and political education, development history of ideological and political education, and studies of basic experience, etc. A large number of professional talents have graduated from this school who are firm ideologically and politically and with high ability of Marxism theory and high competence, meeting the needs of minority regional economic and social development.


1General Introduction

The school devotes importance to the faculty professionalism development, regarding attracting and training talents as the priority. With the enlargement and development of the faculty, the teachers’ ideological and political awareness and teaching competence have been improving. In short, the school has built up a faculty team that is competent, academic, well structured, as well as moral and vigorous.

The school has totally 59 staffs, including 56 full-time teachers. 43 teach ideological and political courses, and 28 of them are professors and associate professors, taking up 50% of the total; the rest 27 teachers with intermediate level titles take up 48.21%.

The school attaches importance to attracting and training outstanding talents. It takes in 7 doctorates and 5 others are pursuing their doctorates. 10 teachers with doctorates and 35 with master degrees take up totally 17.86% and 62.5% respectively. 4 of the teachers are aged below 35 and 26 aged from 36 to 45, taking up 53.57% of the faculty, are the backbone of the school. Totally 26 teachers aged over 46 take up 46.43% of the faculty. Totally 55 teachers got their highest degrees from universities other than IMUT, including 34 members who graduated from universities titled as either “985” or ”211”, and 4 from abroad, which enable a rational learning structure of teachers.

4.Scientific Research

Since its foundation, the school has totally 9 projects granted by the National Social Science Foundation of China (NSSFC), 1 research project by the National Education Science Planning Foundation of China, 1 major project by the National Press Fund of China, 4 projects by the Scientific Research Foundation of the State Educational Ministry of China, 2 projects by the Scientific Research Foundation for the Returned Overseas Chinese Scholars-State Educational Ministry, 1 subsidiary project of the major projects by the Scientific Research Foundation of the State Educational Ministry of China, 4 ethnic research programs by the State Ethnic Affairs Committee, 1 authorized project by the Social Science Foundation of Inner Mongolia, 10 projects by the Social Science Planned Foundation of Inner Mongolia, 1 special project by the Postdoctoral Science Foundation of China, 14 projects by the Inner Mongolian Committee of Education and the Inner Mongolia Federation of Humanities and Social Science, and 24 projects by the Foundation of IMUT, reaching a total fund 1.6 million yuan.

Totally 13 books and over 200 academic papers get published in some Chinese core journals, such as the Research on History of CPC, Construction of CPC, Guangxi Ethnic Studies, Guizhong Ethnic Studies, Inner Mongolia Social Science, Journal of Hunan University, Study of Social Science, Journal of Minzu University of China, among which 40 papers have been included by CSSCI and 2 have been cited and reprinted by the Replicated Journals of Renmin University of China. 4 scientific research projects won the 2nd prize of the Philosophy and Social Scientific Outstanding Awards given by Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region People’s Government, and 5 won 3rd prizes.

The school gives importance to the scientific research team construction. With an approval of the Marxism Innovation Team by IMUT in 2012, the school has been following the means of “overall acceleration and key breaking through”, and focusing on the “education of ideology and politics and education of culture and quality”. A large number of scientific research achievements have been accomplished. Totally 16 scientific research projected have been accomplished, 2 academic books published, and over 40 academic papers published. Besides, the team has won 3 scientific research prizes at/above provincial and ministerial level, contributing to the improvement of the overall scientific research level of the school.

The school also emphasizes the study on education and teaching. It has been undertaking a series of related projects, including 1 granted by the Inner Mongolia Major Educational Reform and Development Foundation, 1 by the Inner Mongolia Educational Science Planning Program Foundation, 5 by the Inner Mongolia College Students Specific Subject Foundation, 1 project by the Inner Mongolia Postgraduate Teaching Education Program Foundation, 2 by the Inner Mongolia General Courses Teaching Reform Program Foundation, and 10 by the teaching reform program foundation of IMUT. 9 textbooks and over 40 academic papers on the studies of teaching and pedagogy published. Besides, the achievement also include 5 Programs granted by IMUT for teaching material compiling, 1 3rd prize of the Inner Mongolia Teaching Achievement, 1 1st prize on the teaching achievement and 1 3rd prize on the teaching achievement of IMUT.
